Revised: October 2023
Scaffolds should be inspected before using by a competent person. "Click"
testing should be done on all scaffold planks. Re-training of competent persons
shall be conducted per OSHA-30 recommendations and their scaffold training in
ClickSafety.
Specifically, all supervisors and teammates using scaffolds will receive or will
have received scaffold-use training and be issued a certificate. These trainings
are available from TEAMWRKX Construction and we provide these training
modules to our teammates. All certificates will be documented and stored in the
company shared drive.
Retraining of scaffold use will be required when a teammate’s certificate expires
(usually after 3 years), if they demonstrate a lack of knowledge, or if they request
further training.
Portable access ladders should extend at least three feet above the scaffold
platform that it services. It should be secured at the top and placed with its base
set out a distance of ¼ of the height. A firm, level base is a "must" for the ladder,
as well as for the scaffold.
Scaffolds should be free of waste or other material, which can cause tripping, or
falling accidents. This includes oil, grease, or other wet substances on the
scaffold.
Make certain that handrails and toe boards are secure. Scaffold planks should
extend at least six (6) inches, and not more than twelve (12) inches, beyond.
The crossbeams, if they are too short, can be accidentally displaced. If too long,
they may tip and fall.
Teammates can complete a certification in Scaffold Training via ClickSafety if
desired.
